The Yomada are a large and powerful tribe, 45,000 strong, and second only to the Yamonari. They share the island of Halakii with the Kuloth tribe, who attack the Yomada frequently. The Yomada are known for organized group tactics and excellent strategy. They also are excellent archers.

The Yomada are known as a wise and peaceful tribe, only fighting when they have to. They are wary of foreigners, but are usually willing to talk and trade. Each Yomada village is led by a village elder and these in turn are ruled over by a council of tribal elders who live in the largest village. All decisions are voted on by this council and their word is law.

The Yomada are a short and brown skinned people with straight black hair, often worn short. Both genders adorn themselves with colorful body paint and numerous feathers.

The northern third of the island of Halakii is mostly grasslands. This is where the Yomada live. It is also home to a species of huge flightless bird known as the "in'yomada'ratala" - a Temegara word which translates as "bird above all". Sailors to this island who have seen it have named it the "dragon hawk" and it is by this name that it is known to the rest of the world. Th dragon hawk looks very much like other raptors except for its great size. It has a wing span of 10 meters and weighs about 200 kg. It has strong legs, large claws and a broad triangular beak. The feathers of this enormous bird vary in color - white on the legs, pale blue on the belly and under the wings, grey, green or brown on the wings and back. The Yomada worship the dragon hawk. For centuries, the Yomada people have developed a close rapport with these enormous birds. Every village will have at least one which is their village pet and cared for by all the villagers. Larger villages may have several. Dragon hawk feathers vary in size from a few centimeters to a meter long. These feathers are used by the Yomada for decoration, clothing and spell components. They are also used in the coverings of their huts.

The Yomada carve huge stone statues in the likeness of great birds with wings outstrecthed. These "dragon hawk statues" are positioned at the borders of Yomada territory, along the coast and along the edges of the hills and forests to the south, facing outward. Sailors' stories suggest that the Yomada shamans can see through the eyes of these statues.
